For months I've let this book, Yes Man, sit around and collect dust. I never found the time to properly read it. But I finally got around to it and finished just before midnight on New Year's Eve. And I have to tell you, this book had me in stitches. It's completely offbeat and charming. (I bought it on a whim in London a few months ago.) While it's no War & Peace, it really hits upon something I should do more: "Say Yes more." Three simple words. Of course, I wouldn't take it to the extreme Danny Wallace did... or would I? After reading the book, I noticed that I do say no a lot. I find myself making excuses to decline invitations and choose to stay in rather than go out. It's not that I don't like going out; I just prefer the comfort of staying in. Like Danny. But staying in all the time means life flies by with missed opportunities and experiences. I'm the one standing outside the window watching this amazing party go on. So as I finished the book before the new year, I thought to myself, "I'm going to say Yes more." I'm going to be a Yes Woman. Carpe diem, baby. Seize the day. Danny Wallace, you're about to change my life. |
