I'm sure it bothers everyone when someone undermines your authority. You're in charge, so you get to call the shots! But when someone right there with you decides to take over and show them who's really boss-- it kind of... sucks. It gives you this inferior feeling that hey, maybe I wasn't in charge after all. It irks me. Now, I'm an extremely nice person so I don't like 'shoving people around' when I'm charge but when I have to 'take hold of the reins', I'll be nice about it and it works out in the end. Because things will fall in place even if there are some gaps to jump at the moment. But... I'm very bothered by this [authority being undermined] right now.

Very bothered.

(steps into an elevator)

"It's going to hit 40F today!"

"That's hot!"

"You're kidding, right?"

"Yessssss."

It's funny because I was talking to my friend about this the day before. 40 degrees is really warm. I'm not kidding. I'm strolling outside without gloves, a scarf, and hat. Except the fact that I have a cold, it feels good. (I don't handle sudden temperature changes very well.)

Oooh, old school ER. George Clooney...

Post rock is one of my favorite genres of music because it gets you in that calming mood. It's ambient for the most part but sometimes you can rock out... in a composed manner, lol. I think what I love about most post rock is that there are no words. Just from the tones and beat, you feel a certain way without needing to shout the lyrics.

Sigur Rós is definitely up there and Explosions in the Sky has become popular of late. But of the post rock bands I've heard, Saxon Shore is by far my favorite. All 4 albums are wonderful and amazing, and I would suggest all or any of them to you: Be a Bright Blue, Four Months of Darkness, Luck Will Not Save Us From a Jackpot of Nothing, and The Exquisite Death Of Saxon Shore. Here's a song from Be a Bright Blue:

Saxon Shore, "Twilight Is Our Advocate Tonight" (yousendit)

Hope you like it and the band! I just missed them in New York but hopefully they'll be touring again soon. I'm looking forward to what they put out next.

I see the Death Star: I walk through the Union Square subway station a lot and never noticed! Now I'll think about Star Wars everytime I navigate around the vertical I-beams. Brilliant!

Barack Obama announces that he will be running for President in 2008.

“Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what’s needed to be done. Today we are called once more, and it is time for our generation to answer that call.”

Here we go, you guys. It starts.

Sometimes I wish I lived the lives of others just so I could see, feel, and experience the pain, happiness, or uphill battle from wherever they are. It's not that my life is boring or uneventful; in fact, it's been eventful, just in a different kind of way. I just wish I went through those other hardships so I could relate to more, if that makes any sense.

But... I don't think I could ask for a better life. I have a good one and I wouldn't trade it in for anything less. We're all built differently so we can relate to each other on different levels. It might not be the same but in one way or the other, we understand each other. I think that's the beauty of human interaction and communication. Something clicks on the inside and we just... know.

You know those women who are at the top of their game, who know they are the shit, and you just don't want to mess with? They frighten me. It's intimidating. I met one the other night and I was shaking in my shoes. The whole time I was thinking, "I am going to be 1/8 of a woman you are." But what can we do? When we, women, are in male-dominated fields of work, there's no other way to be except to be fierce. I guess it's because we're always out trying to prove that men aren't always the best at these things, that we can do them just as well. I get that, and I can feel the heat of competition. So I have to give it up to those women because to get up that ladder and reach the top-- that's tough. It's just...

They're all a bit frightening.

I woke up yesterday to find that it was 8 degrees F, and it felt like -7. It hurt walking. Oh, it burned. So cold, so mean. It's probably a lot colder up north but New York has this bone-chilling coldness that I can't explain.

Well it's 13 degrees F right now and feels like 0. Verrry nice.

I think my procrastinating has gotten worse over the past few years. It's to the point where I'm leaving it, literally, to the last possible minute. And it is kicking me in the pants right now. I'm feeling it but at the same time, it's kind of a nice adrenaline rush. Grace under pressure...? Somebody needs some tutoring in time management, STAT.
