Post rock is one of my favorite genres of music because it gets you in that calming mood. It's ambient for the most part but sometimes you can rock out... in a composed manner, lol. I think what I love about most post rock is that there are no words. Just from the tones and beat, you feel a certain way without needing to shout the lyrics.

Sigur Rós is definitely up there and Explosions in the Sky has become popular of late. But of the post rock bands I've heard, Saxon Shore is by far my favorite. All 4 albums are wonderful and amazing, and I would suggest all or any of them to you: Be a Bright Blue, Four Months of Darkness, Luck Will Not Save Us From a Jackpot of Nothing, and The Exquisite Death Of Saxon Shore.
