So here's a thought: if you die in your dream, can you wake up again?

A friend was telling me about her dream last night and I mused out loud with that thought. Do you know what I mean? So, for example, if you were falling to your death in your dream, and you hit the ground and died, blacked out, gone-- would you be able to wake yourself up in the real world?

They say that as much as you dream about the process of dying (falling, etc.), it's not possible to dream so far that you witness (experience?) the actual death.

I don't know who they is. I just heard that somewhere.

I've never dreamed it, as far as I know. Kind of a scary thought though.

Nip/Tuck Season 2 had a crazy episode in which Sean's wife had a dream sequence in which she eventually died--in real life her heartbeat stopped on the machines but she "chose to come back".

I imagine that you just blackout, then... nothing. Maybe that's how people die in their sleep.

I died in my sleep once, I actually dreamt that I fell asleep and dreamt of dying but then I woke up when I died. Does that count? lmao. I guess, it didn't work, because i'm still alive . . . Or AM I? -paranoid-

I've died in a dream once. I've heard "them" say that you will wake up before you die in a dream, but I didn't.

Amazingly I DID wake up afterwards :)
