![]() So going along with last night's Office, is Hilary Swank hot or not? It really is a debatable question. And it's absolutely hilarious because I spent almost the entire day thinking about this! I don't know how or where BJ Novak (Ryan) got the idea from, but he wrote a great episode. Oscar's explanation is my favorite. Anyway! I concluded with this after a day of pondering: I think she is very pretty but not hot. (Yes, there's a difference between being pretty/handsome and hot. A person can be both pretty and hot or, in this case, pretty and not hot. Though, can someone be hot and not pretty? Huh, interesting. Anyway, in my head, the "definition" of hot is like... someone who appears on the cover of Maxim magazine or Megan Fox in Transformers. That's sort of a generalization, but you know what I mean. Something like that. In my head, someone pretty/handsome is like... Keri Russell or James McAvoy (yeah, I think he's pretty; I love his eyes). But it doesn't mean they can't be hot. Because I think James McAvoy is hot as well... did that kind of make sense?) No TrackBacksTrackBack URL: http://www.toastier.org/cgi-bin/mt/mt-tb.cgi/327 |

1. I agree very much with your definition of hot.
2. I find I'm not often attracted to hot people.
3. Hilary Swank is not hot. She beautiful.
4. I liked Stanley's explanation, but I agreed the most with Oscar.
5. James McAvoy is adorable.
What you said makes sense to me; there is definitely a difference between pretty/handsome and hot. And cute!
agreed. also, in my universe there is sexy, which does not necessarily correlate with pretty/handsome or hot (but usually does), and attractive, which is my general umbrella term for anyone who is pretty, hot, or sexy. oh, and cute is in there somewhere.
